So finally finished reading the Golden Compass in a day...it was AOK for a bit of light reading. The writing is not dissimilar to the Porter series. I had the book shipped 3 months ago thinking I should read it before the movie but then decided that I should skip the movie in its entirety and wait for the DVD to come out after reading it.
The second book is getting a little tiresome. It is hard to paint a picture of a parallel universe when you have very limited vocabulary to work with within that age group. The limited pallette somehow made the first half very tiring and sometimes I wish writers should only publish one book so that it will make more sense visually and not try and make a quick buck by splitting them into triplets.
Oh well...hopefully I will finish The Subtle Knife with more enthusiasm. The Physics behind the story though infantile is what will draw you in...if you are a science geek!
There is a GOD and he needs to be overturned! Heresy?
